Access to health insurance is an essential part of studying in British Columbia. Heritage Community College (HCC) ensures that international students are informed, supported, and properly covered throughout their studies.
BC Medical Services Plan (MSP)
All international students studying in British Columbia for more than six months are required to enroll in the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). HCC provides guidance and support to help students apply for MSP shortly after arrival in Canada, ensuring timely access to public health care services.
Private Health Insurance (Interim Coverage)
As MSP coverage may take time to become active, HCC assists students in selecting and purchasing private health insurance to ensure continuous medical coverage during the initial waiting period. Plans are recommended based on individual needs and length of stay.
Comprehensive Medical Coverage
Together, MSP and private health insurance provide coverage for essential health services, including routine medical appointments, emergency care, and hospital services, offering students peace of mind while studying at HCC.
Heritage Community College (HCC) is committed to supporting the mental health and overall well-being of our students by providing accessible, confidential, and culturally responsive support services.
